It’s Saturday, March 23rd and I’m going on a juicing cleanse for this weekend. I decided to do this because I wanted reboot myself.
What is a reboot?
Well according to Joe Cross from Fat Sick and Nearly Dead it’s a period of time where you commit to drinking and eating only fruit and vegetables, herbal teas, and water in order to regain or sustain your vitality, lose weight and kick-start healthy habits that recharge your body and get your diet back in alignment for optimal wellness.
I’ve actually never just juiced alone for a long period. I decided this morning to try juicing for my breakfast and lunch, only for this weekend. This will be my ‘Spring Cleaning’ for my body. I will however incorporate smaller raw foods mostly salads and very little grains for dinner. The whole point is to keep it RAW!
I need it, and my digestive system needs a break from working so hard breaking down processed foods all the time. By eating raw foods my body will not work as hard to break it down, and it’s very healthy for me.
This morning I started my day out with a cup of green tea. I juiced kale, beets, ginger, parsley, lemon, and carrots.
Here’s my juicer! It’s a Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor. It extracts everything, literally.
According to Dr. Mercola, juicing will helps you absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making less-than-optimal food choices over many years. This limits your body’s ability to absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables.
Juicing will help to “pre-digest” them for you, so you will receive most of the nutrition, rather than having it go down the toilet.
Now here’s my finished product. It’s Saturday so I’m already on the go with my children. I have drop offs and errands to run all day. I had this for my breakfast. If I get hungry in between I plan on snacking on fruits until lunch.
BPA Free bottles all the way!
